1. Excellent post! I'm from Dallas and it is pretty pathetic that they raided them like that. It would be one thing if other illegal activites were occuring, however that didn't seem to be the case..

On blogger/poker player wrote at pokerati that he felt extremely harrassed and bullied.. sad..

2. Yeah, this is nuts. Certainly the police departments around here should be able to find more important crimes to spend their time and resources on.

But if we are lucky, this incident could have a positive effect: it could wake up the lawmakers to the fact that poker is a very popular game that, if legalized and regulated in this state, could generate lots of needed tax revenue. Even if they don't want to allow all forms of casino gambling, they could legalize card rooms like California has had for many years. When are they going to figure this out ?

3. How absolutely absurd. I have personally worked a Fortune 500 companies - each year - from the chairman of the boards on down there have been football, March Madness pools etc. Sometimes into the thousands of dollars - SO WHAT? And now we have SWAT teams with paramilitary sub-machine guns breaking up poker games? How freaking dangerous is that? We are allowed to carry guns in this State - and how long is it going to be before someone thinks they are being robbed (just this week, two people were killed by home invasions)and fire at the heroic SWAT teams in self defense. People are going to get killed - and over what - cards? SWAT teams are being routinely used for ordinary police work - which used to be a violation of the laws banning military forces from doing policework. (Oh, I forgot - these guys are not military - it's just that their training, armorment, and mentality is.) SWAT team are for hostage situations, etc. - not for police work. How much money is being spent to organize and maintain these para-military, and frankly fascist, groups? Do "We The People" want or need this?

4. Hey Westbay.. Your comments reminded me of the political fiasco in Dallas so far as getting state legalized gambling. I remember when our previous mayor (whose name escapes me now) tried to get the trinity river authority to rebuild the trinity river area to be like San Antonios riverwalk with the intent of having Casino's down there as well (err.. I guess making it more like Shrevport). Laura Miller got into office and the first thing she did was squash or make attempts at slowing it down. Crazy.. I think the lady is against revenue and money in general.. Hopefully the next mayor will wake up to this thing..

5. Jason, Laura Miller has changed her tune since then. I saw her say in a TV interview within the last year that she thought Reunion Arena should be turned into a casino, as a revenue generator for the city of Dallas. Of course, the state of Texas would have to allow gambling first, but at least there are some people of influence who think casinos could be a reasonable thing to legalize. Why let that money go to OK or LA? I hope some more government officials see the sense of it and write the bills to pass legalized poker rooms, if not full fledged casinos.

6. again its just a family game that was nothing but a waste of tax dollars.those rooms r some of the best poker rooms in dallas nobody there has ever got out of line clean and safe yes i was there at jackies and i hope it opens again
